It was way back in the 1940s that I first heard of the Doctor. I was given one of his Universal Science monthly letters to read. Every month hundreds of these letters were posted, no charge was made, we sent Doctor small donations.
Every letter contained an absorbing lecture as well as a strong, beautifully worded affirmation. I found myself hooked to "Universal Science." I could hardly wait to receive this monthly letter.
Doctor also lectured to about 300 people once a month in the Escom Auditorium in Rissik Street. It was during one of these evenings that I saw the Doctor overshadowed by the Great Master Jesus.
It was during the time I was attending lectures that I realised what a wonderful person Doctor really was. There were a number of helpers, usherettes, etc., all of whom were Doctor's students from his "Healing Course." What marvellous helpers they were. They moved about among the audience it seemed as though their feet did not touch the floor, their eyes sparkled and when they smiled their faces lit up to such a degree that one felt the Power of God - which we know is really the Divine Power of Life and Love - just oozing from them. This applied also, only 100 percent more strongly, to Doctor himself, but what a teacher these students were trying to emulate!
Doctor had a suite of rooms up on the 3rd floor of Walter Wise's Building in Joubert Street. His healing was carried out in a beautiful sanctuary. There was a lovely picture of Jesus, a table and a couple of chairs, but the atmosphere was something out of this world!
I accompanied my son of 17 years one morning to see and consult with Doctor over a health problem. Doctor had him on the table, he passed his hands over the entire body then turned my son over on to his stomach, again Doctor's hands went over the body. I was watching intently, Doctor then told my son to stand, and I was amazed to see two large, dark red circles, one on each shoulder blade! It seemed that Doctor had brought out these circles with his Divine Power of Love which flowed through him. Doctor just turned quietly towards me, pointed to the circles and said, "Your son has a dirty liver, cut down on feeding him over rich food and he will be o.k."
Many times I heard of wonderful cures and many times people told me that Doctor visited his patients by Astral Projection. A number said also that they felt his presence with them and more sensitive people actually "saw" Doctor.
During the polio epidemic of 1947 here in Johannesburg, there was a shortage of trained staff at the Children's Hospital. I was one of many housewives who volunteered to lend a hand. At this time, unfortunately, I had already applied to become a student of Doctor, but when I spoke to him he said I should go and help the children, which I did.
Doctor promised that he would put me on his Prayer List. Well, I can never ever tell anyone to what extent how Doctor did help me. I felt him pouring strength into me. I never seemed to tire and this continued for several months that I was on duty at the Hospital.
Doctor was a great man and many hundreds here in Johannesburg mourned his passing.
