Paul with a stack of the lectures he owned as well as many printed lectures gathered from the former students of "Dr. Mac" in Johannesburg and Pretoria.
Paul was the moving force behind collecting the printed Monthly Letters of Dr. Mac sent out by the Sanctuary, the weekly printed lectures, and other courses. It was through his efforts that the following "Collected Writings" saw the light of day:
"The Commentary Notes to
The Higher Power You Can Use"
"Monthly Letters" Books 1, 2, and 3
(The Sanctuary of the Silent Healing Power)
"Life Everlasting"
"Your Silent Partner - Cosmic Consciousness"
Was it by chance or coincidence? During Paul's continual search to gather the printed lectures, one former student of Dr. Mac's courses presented him with the complete material which comprised"The Commentary Notes to The Higher Power You Can Use." This had been unknown to Paul at the time. Ultimately these were published by Lora in mid-1980s in Canada.
Happiness never comes through possessions, and when man finds this out he enters the second stage of desire for the subtle things, such as the grasping at spiritual comforts which shall protect him from the conflicts of life. He reaches out for guides in order to protect him on the higher levels. But this in turn will all prove illusionary. And the third stage is reached when he tries to escape conflict by giving up all attempts to find happiness outside himself in a life of seclusion. But this does not liberate life to freedom. To liberate life is to know it, to live it with others, enjoying its activity with others.

Paul writes:
We are Swiss and had to travel right through Africa to come and settle here ... to find him, Dr Mac, after exploring Theosophy, yoga, and all sorts of avenues. His message was so simple, so true that from the first day we kept with him and the teaching in his books. We made contact with him early during the last war, in 1942, probably when he came to Johannesburg and Pretoria to start his lectures and healings. His was a wonderful personality, with a strong Scottish accent, full of life, always ready to laugh, and often inserting in his serious talks a joke to break the tension. In Pretoria, we were about 60 to 70 pupils. He used to tell us that he chose us, as the lectures given were only on invitation, so he was selective.
As beautiful as the messages are, it is the realization, the practice of the teaching that counts, and you may be able to reach this only when you know yourself as the nothingness, "I of myself am nothing." This is the basis of Dr. Mac's teaching.
